Sophomore finishes all three rounds at par or better en route to top-10 finish
RICHMOND, Ky. – Marshall sophomore Cael Ropietski earned a top-10 finish at the EKU Colonel Classic over the weekend at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky.
Ropietski finished with all three rounds at par or better to earn a T-6 result, which led the Herd at the event hosted by Eastern Kentucky.
The sophomore from Harvey's Lake, Pennsylvania started the tournament with a 3-under 67 after carding five birdies and an eagle in his first round of action.
From there, Ropietski showed his consistency and scoring ability, firing consecutive Even-par 70s to notch the top-10 finish.
For the week, Ropietski tied for the overall tournament lead with 13 birdies with Longwood's Gabriel Mainella, who won the individual medalist honors in the tournament.
As a team, Marshall finished fifth in the EKU Colonel Classic.
Other notable performances included Jackson Woodburn's final round 71 (+1) in which he had 15 pars and Tanner Vest's second round 72 (+2) in which he recorded five birdies.
Marshall returns to action next week when the team competes in the Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio, on Sept. 29-30.
