Marshall Volleyball to Open SBC Action Against Coastal Carolina

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (8-5) is set to host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-4) to open Sun Belt Conference play Friday and Saturday in the Cam Henderson Center.

Saturday Sept. 27 vs. Coastal Carolina – 1 p.m.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

The Herd had a 2-1 weekend at the Wofford Invitational with a five-set win over the hosts on Friday night and a four-set triumph over Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
Setter Bella Thompson was named to the all-tournament team and earned SBC Setter of the Week on Tuesday with 124 assists, most during the week in the conference, at 10.33 per set, the second most in the SBC. The senior sits second in the league with 356 assists this season.
Defensively, Emma Sayre sits 29th in the nation, second in the SBC, with 205 digs.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA

The Chanticleers are coming off a pair of losses to Miami and FIU last weekend at the 305 Invitational last weekend.
CCU sits in the top 35 nationally in total blocks and blocks per set at 112 and 2.60, respectively, with both numbers leading the conference.
Anna Rita ranks eighth nationally with 65 total blocks this season and 16th at 1.51 per set.
