Herd Women’s Hoops Rallies for 10th Straight Win

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball delivered a dramatic comeback at the Cam Henderson Center, rallying past Coastal Carolina 80-74 on Saturday afternoon for its 10th consecutive victory. The Herd improved to 15-3 overall and 6-0 in Sun Belt play, maintaining a share of first place and achieving their best 18-game start since the 1986-87 season.
Trailing for more than 25 minutes and facing a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter, Marshall erupted for a 24-13 final period, led by senior Peyton Ilderton's 11 points in the final frame. Ilderton scored a season-high 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting and buried 5-of-6 from three-point range.

Marshall's bench proved decisive, with junior Ni'Kiah Chesterfield tallying a career-best 18 points and six rebounds. The Herd's bench outscored Coastal Carolina's reserves 35-9. Sophomore Kassie Ingram added 11 points in 18 productive minutes, hitting a pair of timely threes.
Senior guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey continued her season-long excellence, posting 10 points, seven assists and five steals. Lewis-Eutsey surpassed 300 points for the season and stretched her streak of double-digit scoring games to 10, while her five steals marked her sixth contest with at least five takeaways. Marshall forced 17 turnovers and converted them into 19 points, while committing only six giveaways..
The game swung on a sequence of clutch fourth-quarter plays. After Ilderton's equalizer, junior Timberlynn Yeast knocked down a go-ahead three on the next possession. Lewis-Eutsey's steal with just over five minutes left set up another score as Marshall seized momentum and never trailed again. The Herd shot 80 percent from deep in the final period and finished with 20 assists on 27 made field goals.
