HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall Track & Field will again be competing at Louisville's Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.

The Herd was already scheduled for an off-weekend last week, but had a modified training block with Winter Storm Fern.

"It's been a difficult week with the weather but as always our kids were able to battle through adversity," Director of Track & Field Keith Roberts said. "Because of their mentality we had a great training week albeit modified due to the winter storm. It is essential that we build upon the great meet we had two weeks ago. I can really feel the momentum building throughout our team. The family atmosphere that our student athletes and staff have built is showing on a day-to-day basis. This week will be a huge test."

The Herd won 11 events when in Louisville two weeks ago for the Bellarmine Open, including junior Hannah Toth's 3K victory.

"Even though track is an individual sport, we are still a team," Toth said. "We come to meets not only to better ourselves and show the results of our hard work, but also to celebrate one another. That means hyping up a teammate after a personal record, offering hugs and a shoulder to cry on when a race doesn't go as planned, being someone's warm-up and cool-down partner, losing your voice while yelling splits every lap, and feeling just as nervous for a teammate as they step onto the line because you want to see them succeed and reach their goals."

This weekend's meet will be the largest Marshall has attended so far in 2025-26, with over 70 schools or clubs competing.

"I expect us to come out and compete in every event," Marshall sophomore Samari McCord said. "We've put in the work, and now it's about showing up and executing. For me, it's about focusing on me & running my race. I honestly expect a few school records to fall this weekend."
