Marshall takes doubles point and four singles contests

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (6-6) picked up a 5-1 neutral site win over the ECU Pirates on Saturday in Lynchburg, Virginia.

"Today was a good comeback after some shaky first sets, but the first time outside is always a little dicey," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said.

Johanna Strom and Alina Mokrynska started off doubles with a quick 6-0 win at number one. Then Paula Berzina and Thalia Smith clinched the doubles point with a tiebreaker win at number three.

Mokrynska and Smith carried their momentum into singles with straight wins at number three and six singles.
Â
Polina Gumeniuk battled back to a three-set win at number two singles with Nour El Ouazzani also picking up a three-set victory at number four.
