Trashaun Smith Sets Men’s Triple Jump Outdoor Record

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Marshall Track & Field opened its 2026 outdoor season by taking command at the Hampton Inn River City Relays, with three Herd men's triple jumpers breaking Floyd Johnson's 1996 record.
Freshman Trashaun Smith - the Indoor Sun Belt Conference champion in the event - led the group with a 15.43m jump. Otenidi Omot (15.37m) and Cam Hamby (15.24m) all surpassed the previous mark.
The Herd collected a slew of event victories, including multiple victories over the two days from Smith, Bay'Andria Hodges and Gradian Graham. Marshall had 12 event victories total.

Women's 1500m Run: Destiny Berryman (4:44.21) – 8th place. Men's 1500m Run: Maxton Sowers (3:53.86) – 7th place. Men's 100m Dash: Cole Friedman (10.56) – 3rd place. Men's 5000m Run: Justin Lipscomb (14:24.59) – 1st place. Brady Dawkins (15:00.21) – 4th place. Womens 5000m Run: Asha Bora (17:55.57) – 2nd place. Womens 3000m Steeplechase: Taylor Spencer (10:57.81) – 2nd place. Mens 4x100m Relay: Marshall (41.76) – 2nd place. Womens 4x100m Relay: Marshall (46.07) – 3rd place. Marshall B (47.13) – 5th place. Womens 4x400m Relay: Marshall (3:58.10) – 5th place.
