Herd Women’s Basketball Hosts UMBC in WNIT Second Round Monday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball (23-9) returns to the court Monday evening at 6 p.m. as the Herd welcomes UMBC (17-14) in the second round of the WNIT.
The WNIT field has been trimmed from 48 to 32 as the Herd received a bye to the second round, while the Retrievers defeated Ohio Thursday evening in overtime. The full bracket can be viewed HERE.

COACH JULI FULKS
- Head Coach Juli Fulks is in year two leading Marshall's Women's Basketball program. Fulks came to the Herd with a prestigious 400 wins while leading Transylvania to the 2022-23 DIII National Championship.
- Fulks and the Herd oversaw a seven win conference improvement in 2025-26, and eight more wins to this point from year one to year two.
PREGAME NOTES
- When taking the floor Monday, Marshall will be playing its first game in 17 days after falling in the SBC 4th Round. Senior Timaya Lewis-Eutsey led the Herd in scoring in that game, as she has in 24 contests this season. Lewis-Eutsey earned SBC First Team All-Conference, SBC Newcomer of the Year, and SBC All-Defensive Team.
- Coach Fulks and Lewis-Eutsey had a press conference to discuss the WNIT, which can be viewed HERE.
- Senior Meredith Maier has made 79 3-pointers this season, third all-time in program history. Fellow senior Peyton Ilderton is close behind with 74 triples this year. Shayna Gore has the two best marks in team history with 96 in 2018-19, and 86 the season prior.
- With a victory, the Marshall-UMBC winner will take on the Youngstown State-Maryland Eastern Shore winner in the third round on a date and location to be determined.

ABOUT THE RETRIEVERS
- UMBC is 17-14 following its overtime win over the Bobcats, after having a 10-6 America East campaign. The Retrievers fell in double overtime of the America East semifinals to the top-seeded and eventual tournament champions Vermont.
- Head Coach Candice Hill is in her second season at UMBC, improving from a 14-15 first season.
- Monday will be the first all-time meeting between the two sides.
