HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball advanced to the 2026 WNIT Fab 4 with a dominant final quarter in front of a raucous Cam Henderson Center crowd Monday evening, defeating Army West Point, 82-65. In what was a back-and-forth contest all night long, the Herd outscored the Black Knights 21-0 in the final quarter
Timaya Lewis-Eutsey led the Herd with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 10 in the final 10 minutes. Her go-ahead and-one layup put the Herd ahead for good with 6:22 to play. Peyton Ilderton poured in 16, Timberlynn Yeast had 13, and Ni'Kiah Chesterfield added 10 for Coach Juli Fulks' side that has now matched an all-time program record with 26 wins in a season.
"Similar to last game, we have to thank everyone for coming to the game tonight," said Coach Fulks. "That was an absolutely amazing crowd. I've always been a believer when you get that kind of atmosphere you need to make sure you win. Army obviously played and shot exceptionally. We have to give them some credit. In the first half, I felt like we were doing a decent job early of running them off the three-point line and getting them deep in the shot clock. They were still able to knock down all of that mid-range stuff too. I was incredibly proud of our group. When you're playing a team who I think was 53% from three and 60% from the floor, so when you're playing somebody that's shooting that well you just gotta stay in it and give yourself a chance."
Army - a 26 win team themselves - came out ready, shooting 60% from the field in the opening half. The Herd answered with 59% shooting of its own. MU got within a point on multiple occasions in the first half but could never get over the hump as Army took a seven point lead into the break.
Marshall briefly took the lead on a Blessing King free throw in the third, and a possession later on a Chesterfield three. The Black Knights would answer back before the Herd's final quarter knockout punch.
The final quarter shutout was the second Marshall has had this season. The Herd shut out EKU on Dec. 14, the first time doing so in program history. The Black Knights finished 0-of-18 from the field in the final quarter while Marshall kept its pace at 7-of-15.
MU won the battle in the paint, 44-18 and made 11 more free throws.
