Trashaun Smith Wins Men’s Triple Jump to Highlight First Day of Tennessee Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Marshall Track & Field opened the two-day Tennessee Invitational with a string of podium finishes, highlighted by freshman Trashaun Smith's victory in the Men's Triple Jump and a series of personal and season bests across the roster. The Herd earned top-three results in multiple events and set the tone for a competitive weekend in Knoxville as athletes look to tune up ahead of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships.
Track Events
Bay'Andria Hodges raced to a 5th-place finish in the women's 200 meters with a time of 23.70, a mark that currently stands No. 2 in program history. Freshman Iniya Charlton followed with a strong 9th-place finish at 23.90. On the men's side, Samari McCord led the Herd in the 200 meters at 21.51 for 24th, while Chris Swint posted a season best of 21.76. In the 400-meter hurdles, Cameron Burgess and Kylan Overstreet both set personal bests, clocking 56.13 and 57.29, respectively. Myah Boze placed 8th in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a season-best 1:01.40, and freshman Azurie Garrett notched a personal best of 1:04.06. In distance events, Maxton Sowers claimed 5th in the men's 1500m at 3:50.65, and Brady Dawkins finished 2nd in the Men's 5000m with a season-best 14:48.45.
Field Events
Trashaun Smith delivered the highlight of the day for Marshall by winning the Men's Triple Jump with a leap of 15.41 meters (50-06.75). In the women's triple jump, Alayezia Williams finished 7th at 12.11m. The throws group excelled as well—Markayla Moore took 3rd in the women's hammer throw (52.60m), with Halie Wynter 7th (50.64m). In the men's discus, Anthony Dunbar (4th, 48.88m), Anthony Belcher (6th, 47.85m) and Gradian Graham (14th, 45.41m) all placed in the top 14. Freshman Karlee Buterbaugh set a personal best of 45.54m to earn 3rd in the women's javelin. Jenna Olsen and SaMone Whitt represented Marshall in the women's discus, with Olsen placing 21st.
