Marshall Track & Field Competes at Charlotte Invitational Starting Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — With two meets remaining prior to the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships, Marshall Track & Field competes at the Charlotte Invitational starting Friday, Apr. 24.
The Herd's first event begins Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the Women's Triple Jump. The final event Saturday is scheduled for a little after 5 p.m. with the 4x400 meter relays.
Director of T&F Keith Roberts' Herd is currently posting 29 separate Top-10 marks in the conference after some standout performances at the UVA Challenge last weekend.
Marshall has made a habit of setting new Top-5 all-time program marks, two of the marks came last weekend in Charlottesville from Ryan Muktar and Cole Miller. Muktar and Miller are among the many Herd athletes with high aspirations as the season enters its final month.
"My goal is to hit the regional qualifying standard," said Muktar. "I know through the training we have been doing that I am capable of doing so. As the season has progressed I have been making good progress having close attempts at 2.12 and 2.11 so it's just a matter of time. I feel like the team has been progressing well. From jumps to throws to sprints and distance we have a good roster showing PRs every meet with no sign of stopping."
"My goals for this meet are to execute all of my positions on the runway and to get better whether that means a PR or just a better all around meet," said Miller. "Preparation was mostly focused on my speed and acceleration. Also being mentally prepared to attack each week was a focus as well."
"The team as a whole is making great strides week after week. Whether it's the throws, the jumps, the distance, or sprints, every group has its week to break records or score big points. This team is growing as a whole."
Following the Charlotte Invitational, Marshall will have just one meet remaining before the SBC Outdoor Championships in Mobile, Ala.
