Marshall Track & Field Enters Postseason on Winning Note

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Marshall Track & Field enters its postseason with the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships looming following a school record-breaking and winning day at Kentucky.
Freshman Trashaun Smith came away Saturday with High Jump and Triple Jump sweep. His TJ mark of 15.26m won the event while topping HJ at 2.07m.
On the track, Cameron Burgess broke the school record in the 110m Hurdles. His best time of 14.25 finished 4th in the event, topping BJ Epps' record from 2000.

Track Events
Both Men's and Women's 4x100m relay teams finished Top-4. The men (Cole Friedman, Samari McCord, Joey Bloebaum, Eric Reynolds) raced a 41.13. The women (Lakesha Smith, Bay'Andria Hodges, Emma Henry, Iniya Charlton) raced a 45.71. Charlton would later finish 7th in the 100m. Maxton Sowers finished 5th in the 5K, running a best-time of 14:19.90, a new program-best since 2023 and a little under four seconds off the all-time program mark. Destiny Berryman finished inside the Top-10 in the Women's 5K as well. The Burgess school record mark was joined by Kylan Overstreet, who finished 6th in the event. Lauren Sonski led the way in the Women's 800.
Field Events
In the Men's Shot Put, Gabriel Urraca finished 11th with a 17.25m throw. Elicia Wood marked Top 10 in Women's High Jump. In addition to Smith's highlight, Otenidi Omot finished 3rd in Triple Jump and also tied with Ryan Muktar for 3rd in High Jump.
