Carlos Del Rio-Wilson Named 2026 Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team Nominee

Marshall quarterback earns prestigious leadership honor on Monday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson was named as a 2026 nominee for the Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team on Monday.
Del Rio-Wilson, a senior from Atlanta, Georgia, was one of 113 FBS players and 175 total players and coaches who were named as nominees for the 2026 Good Works Team, which recognizes college football players who lead through community service, academics and athletics.
The announcement is the latest in an offseason full of accolades for Del Rio-Wilson, who was named as the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and recently represented Marshall at the 2026 Sun Belt Media Days.
In addition to being 2026 SBC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Del Rio-Wilson was named a Preseason First Team All-SBC selection by the league's coaches, Phil Steele Publications and Athlon Sports.
Del Rio-Wilson returns as one of only two quarterbacks in FBS to pass for 2,000 yards, rush for 600 yards and complete 65 percent of passes in 2025. He also was a multiple-week nominee for both the Davey O'Brien 'Great 8' Award and the Manning Award 'Stars of the Week.'
Beyond the field, Del Rio-Wilson carried a 4.0 grade point average while also serving as the face of Marshall football in several community events and initiatives, further cementing the bond between Marshall and the greater Huntington and Tri-State community.
Established in 1992, and presented by Allstate since 2008, the Good Works Team honors players who use their platforms to strengthen communities and support causes important to them.
The 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September and include 22 student-athletes and one honorary head coach. One student-athlete will also be selected as team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy.
The team is voted on by a panel of former Good Works Team members, head coaches and journalists, who select the team roster based on outstanding leadership on and off the field.
