No. 15 Marshall Rallies Back from Three-Goal Deficit to Draw at George Mason

Apolinario goal with just over four minutes remaining capped off the comeback
FAIRFAX, Va. – The No. 15-ranked Marshall Men's Soccer team (1-0-2) rallied in the final 23 minutes with three goals to draw 3-3 in Fairfax, Virginia, against George Mason (1-1-1).
"This season will be decided on whether or not we can figure ourselves out," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said. "At our best, we are absolutely unplayable. At our worst…We are Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde right now. If we can just toughen up and work harder to get on the front foot, we can win every match we play."
After going down 3-0 in the 57th minute, the Herd needed to ramp up the pressure. At the 68:57 mark, Joao Roberto dished a pass to Nikita Pahkomov, who fired home MU's first goal of the game from outside the box.
Marshall nearly tallied a second goal in the 78th minute after drawing a penalty kick. However, Jack Desroches stopped Thiago Apolinario's attempt.
Less than three minutes later, Ramado Pierre-Louis sent in a cross and Joao Carvalho quickly passed it to Josh Nugent. Nugent then fired a shot in the goal in the 81st minute to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Apolinario rallied late to tie the game as Carl Romberg found the defender for the tying goal with 4:02 left in the contest.
Yurij Obert made three saves in the match. Apolinario and Carvalho each registered a pair of shots on goal in the contest.
The Patriots tallied goals from Matias de Jesus, Kelly Janssen and Quentin Clain in the fifth, 42nd and 57th, respectively, before the comeback.
