Marshall Volleyball Set to Open SBC Play Against Georgia State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball Team (7-4) welcomes the Georgia State Panthers (6-6) to open Sun Belt Conference action this Thursday and Friday.

Both matches are set to be played in the Cam Henderson Center with Thursday's contest at 6 p.m. and Friday's being moved to 4 p.m.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

Marshall swept both of its matches over the weekend against Morehead State.
Marae Reilly leads the SBC and ranks 20th nationally with a .430 hitting percentage. The sophomore has completed 87 of her 165 attacks with just 16 errors on the season.
With 7.87 assists per set, Kahea Carvalho ranks fourth in the conference.
Marshall ranks 11th in assists per set at 13.37 and 13th in the country in kills per set at 14.29, with both numbers leading the Sun Belt.

SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE

The Panthers are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Mercer Invitational with a victory over Charleston Southern and falling in matches to Mercer and Montana State.
With 2.41 blocks per set, Georgia State ranks second in the SBC.
On the attack for the Panthers, Akira Burt has 199.0 points and 171 kills to sit second in the SBC and top 35 in the country in both statistics.
