SENIOR SEASON (2024-25):
Katie competed in one event in the fall season, earning a T-43 finish at the UNCG Invitational. Her best round of the event was a 77 in the second round.
JUNIOR SEASON (2023-24):
2023-24 Marshall University SAAC President
Katie competed in five of 10 events on the season, finishing with a stroke average of 79.6. In Spring 2024, her best round came in the final round of the GCU Invitational when she carded a 4-over 76. She also competed in the River Landing Classic in spring. In Fall 2023, Katie competed in three events and logged nine rounds of action. Shot 74 twice in competition - both in final round action. The first 74 came at the Jennifer Duke Invitational and was part of a final round surge in which the team finished 2nd overall in the tournament. Her second 74 came in the UNCG Fall Invitational when she carded five birdies. She tied for the team lead in birdies for the week at the UNCG Fall Invitational with 10, tying teammate Emily McLatchey. Those were the top birdie totals for a Marshall participant in any tournament in Fall 2023.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2022-23): Katie competed in four events during the 2022-23 season, finishing with an 81 scoring average in 12 rounds of action. Katie had a T-52 finish at the Grandover Fall Classic. Her best round in competition was a 4-over 76, which she got twice - once at the Colonel Classic and once in the SBC Championship. In Summer 2023, won the Michigan Women's Mid-Amateur, hosted by the Golf Association of Michigan.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2021-22):
2022 Conference USA Academic Medalist: GPA 3.75 or better
2022 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll: GPA 3.00 or better
Katie competed in seven events and played 21 total round in her first year at Marshall. Helped the Herd to a 4th place finish at the Pirate Collegiate Classic when she finished 26th. She led Marshall at the River Landing Classic and had a pair of rounds of 73 - one in the River Landing Classic and one in the Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. Also finished tied for 28th in the Conference USA Championships.
HERD FILE: In 2021, Katie was runner-up in the Michigan Girls Junior Amateur Stroke Play with rounds of 68 and 66. She also placed Top-10 in Golf Association of Michigan (Women/Junior girls) Stroke Play in 2021. A standout at South Lyon High School who set numerous records during her H.S. career. In 2020, won the Callaway Junior Tour Tournament and also helped her high school team to the State Championship while finishing as Individual Runner-Up. Was named to All-State, the Michigan Super Team, Academic All-State and was also a three-time All-Conference and All-Region selection while a two-time Oakland County Dream Team selection. An all-around athlete, Katie played two years of varsity basketball, played lacrosse and also was a gymnast for 10 years before starting golf. Katie is the daughter of Betsy and Stephen Potter. She chose Marshall "For the opportunity to further my golf game and business education on a campus that feels like family.” Majoring in Accounting.
