2023 (Graduate Senior): Competed in all six meets for Marshall in final season, finishing 10K with a personal best ... Raced a 31:57.6 in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals .. .Scored a top 10 finish earlier in the year at the Thundering Herd Invitational home meet.Â
2022 (Senior): Competed in four meets for Marshall in senior season...Opened season at Mike Baumer XC Classic, racing a 17:48.3...Raced an 8k season best of 26:37.8 at Louisville Classic.
2021 (Junior): Competed in three meets for Marshall in 2021 junior season....began the year at the Virginia Invitational, racing a time of 30:37.2....Improved 8k time at Louisville Classic, finishing with a season-best time of 27:23.4. Â
2020 (Sophomore): Competed in all three meets for Marshall in the shortened season … began the year at the Live in Lou Classic with a time of 26:27.1 in the 8K, finishing 59th … finished 14th at the Blue Ridge Open dual meet at Appalachian State … competed at the Conference USA Championships for the first time and finished 46th with a time of 26:38.5.
2019 (Freshman): Competed in just three meets for the Thundering Herd before injury ended his season, but he led Marshall in the first two meets of the year…began with a 7th place finish at the Pitt Panther Opener 6K with a time of 18:07.8…finished 4th overall in the team-winning Winthrop Adidas Invitational with a time of 25:12.3…set an 8K PR in his final meet in the Louisville Classic with a time of 24:52.2 ... named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and awarded the C-USA Academic Medal for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.
Prior to Marshall: Saunders capped off a successful senior cross country season by winning the WVSSAC State Cross Country Championship with a time of 15:55.22. In the 2019 track season, he battled with future teammate Jacob Birurakis and finished fourth in the 3200 (running PR of 9:26.96), fourth in the 1600 (running PR of 4:20.94), fifth in the 800 (running PR of 1:59.05), and leading his 4x800 team to the state title running 8:01.29.
