Valentine's unique new position modernizes Marshall's Executive team, offering a forward-thinking approach to the challenges faced in today's intercollegiate athletics scope with NIL, the NCAA transfer portal and revenue-sharing.
He also maintains his previous role as the lead for equipment operations to manage Marshall's partnerships with Nike and BSN Sports.
Valentine joined Marshall Athletics in April of 2023 and serves as Senior Associate Athletic Director. At Marshall, Valentine has oversight of the Equipment Operations Department, Strength and Conditioning, and Sports Nutrition. He also serves as the Sport Administrator for the Thundering Herd Football Program.
Valentine came to Marshall after seven years as Assistant Athletic Director at Northwestern University where he oversaw the entire Equipment Operations Department including the partnership between the Wildcats and Under Armour.
Form 2013 – 2016, Valentine was the Director of Equipment services at Northern Illinois University where he was hired by then Deputy Athletic Director and now current Marshall Athletic Director, Christian Spears. Valentine also worked alongside current Marshall Executive Associate Athletic Director, Debra Boughton. Together the three of them built and made NIU a more recognizable brand nationally.
Valentine also has other collegiate stops at University of Arizona from 2011-2013, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale from 2009-2011, Tulane University from 2006 – 2009. He also worked as a Clubhouse Manager with the Milwaukee Brewers AAA baseball teams in Indianapolis Indiana and Nashville Tennessee from 2000 – 2006.
Valentine graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana in 2004 with a degree in history. He played football for the Tigers for 2 years before switching over to a student assistant role.
A Greenwood Indiana native, Valentine got his start working in athletics as a Bat Boy for the Indianapolis Indians during his freshman year of high school in 1997. He stayed in this role through high school till the opportunity arose for him to become an Clubhouse Manager in 2000.
