Volleyball Drops Contest to Akron

10/31/2001

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? The Marshall University volleyball team was defeated, 3-0, Wednesday evening by MAC rival Akron, 30-21, 30-27, 30-25.

?I thought we had our opportunities tonight, but we just didn?t execute to finish it,? said head coach Steffi Legall. ?I actually think we lost our composure and self destructed near the end and keeping the composure makes the difference. Akron did that and we didn?t. Until we learn to do that we won?t win matches and we?re learning that the hard way.?

The Herd was led by Isabell Anderer (sophomore/Sinsheim, Germany) who had 13 kills and 10 defensive digs. Also helping out the Herd was Tracey King (sophomore/Miami, Fla.) with 11 digs and Grace Jones (junior/Lakeland, Fla.) who ended with 10 kills, 1 block assist and 1 block solo.

Marshall will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. this weekend to take on the Bulls. The match is slated for Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:00 p.m. The Herd will return home next weekend for its last homestand of the year. On Friday, Nov. 9, Marshall will take on Bowling Green and then on Saturday, Nov. 10, the Miami Redhawks. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m.

Marshall now drops to 5-19 and 3-10 in the MAC.
