Volleyball Falls in Three to Eastern Michigan
10/6/2001
YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Marshall volleyball team was defeated today by conference rival Eastern Michigan (9-4, 5-2 MAC). The Eagles defeated the Herd in three games, 30-18, 30-24, 30-27. The Herd now falls to 3-11 on the season and 1-5 in MAC competition.
"We just didn't play tonight," said head coach Steffi Legall. "It is disappointing. I am very pround of the way that Tracey, Heidi and Andrea stepped up though.
The Herd was led by Tracey King (sophomore/Miami, FL) with 14 kills, 6 digs and 1 service ace. Heidi Kuethe finished the evening with 9 killls, one assist and 7 digs. Setter, Andrea Kastein (sophomore/Pittsburgh, PA) ended the evening with 34 assists and 6 defensive digs.
"Our efforts just weren't enought to beat a good Eastern Michigan team," said Legall. "They were well prepared and I think we were still rebounding from the loss against Toledo."
The Herd will be back at home this coming weekend when they will take on Central Michigan, Friday, October 12 and Northern Illinois, Saturday, October 13. Both matches will be at 7:00.
