Men's Soccer Shocked by Buffalo 3-2

Buffalo, N.Y.-The University at Buffalo shocked Marshall?s 23rd ranked men?s soccer team tonight 3-2 in a Mid-American Conference match. The loss ends Marshall?s six game winning streak and drops their record to 8-2-0, 2-1-0 in conference.
Marshall jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a goal by Robert Ngumire (Kampala, Uganda) in the 21st minute. Buffalo struck back quickly with two goals only 50 seconds apart in the 36th minute by Bill Norberg. Both goals came off of direct kicks. The Bulls extended their lead to 3-2 in the 42nd minute when Patrick Beckley scored a break-away goal of a pass from Mike Gellar. Marshall?s Chris Donovan (Lexington, KY) closed the gap in the 60th minute when he took a pass from Brent Sobczak (Brandon, FL) and put it past the keeper.
Marshall was forced to play a man down for the entire second half when Robert Ngumire (Kampala, Uganda) was given a red card.
Buffalo out shot the Herd 17-14.
Marshall will now travel to Akron to face the Zips on Sunday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m. The next home game for the Herd is Sunday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m. against Bowling Green University.
