Volleyball Signs One For 2002
11/14/2001
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University head volleyball coach, Steffi Legall, announced today that Amber Sims (Ney, Ohio) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Thundering Herd beginning next year.
?I am extremely excited to announce that Amber will join our team in the Fall of 2002,? said head coach Steffi Legall. ?Amber is one of the best middle blockers in Ohio in the class of 2002 and I am thrilled that she chose Marshall.?
Sims comes to Marshall after a stellar four-year career at Fairview High School. The middle blocker was a four time letterwinner. At the end of her senior year she was named as the teams most valuable player and was chosen Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-District and First Team All-League. Sims is also a participant in the state?s All-Ohio All-Star Match. This past season she led her team to a 20-4 season match record. She recorded 311 kills, 145 blocks, 201 digs and 40 service aces. The highlight of her prep career was being chosen as the District 7 Player of the Year.
?We believe her blocking and offensive abilities will be a great addition to our front court. Her ability to put the ball away will add a lot of fire power to our offense, and her height and work ethic at the middle blocking position will improve our team?s blocking ability immediately.?
