Volleyball Loses Four Game Decision to Miami

11/17/2001

Oxford, Ohio ? The Marshall University volleyball team was defeated in the last match of the season, 3-1, to conference rival Miami. The Redhawks beat the Herd, 30-14, 24-30, 30-15, 30-19.

?The difference in tonight?s match was hitting errors on our part that allowed Miami to capitalize on them,? said head coach Steffi Legall. ?In terms of defense and blocking we were pretty much equal. You have to give a determined Miami team credit for coming into the match and getting stronger during each game.?

The Herd was led by Heidi Kuethe (junior/Normal, Ill.) who had a season best 19 kills and a hitting percentage of .586. She also added 8 digs, 1 block solo and 1 block assist

?We had great efford in Heidi tonight,? said Legall. ?It was exciting to watch her play. She had a lot of heart and made a big difference on offense and defense.?

This was the Herd?s last match of the season. Marshall ended with a 6-21 overall record and a conference record of 4-14.
