Herd Drops Match to Bowling Green

11/9/2001

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University volleyball team was defeated by Bowling Green, 3-0, Friday night in the Cam Henderson Center. The Falcons (17-6, 10-5 MAC) defeated the Herd (6-18. 4-11) 30-21, 30-25, 30-25.

?We lost but I thought we played probably as well as we have all season,? said head coach Steffi Legall. ?We?re still climbing that mountain and we are not to the top yet. I am very happy with the way we responded. We made them earn every point and gave them a run for their money.?

The Herd was led by Grace Jones (junior from Lakeland, Fl.) and Isabell Anderer (sophomore from Sinsheim, Germany). Jones had 11 kills and 2 block solos. Anderer ended the match with 9 kills, 4 service aces, 8 digs and 1 block solo.

?I wish it had gone into more games because we gained composure every game,? said Legall. ?We have to give credit to a more experienced Bowling Green team. When a match is won by four or five points every game, experience the difference.?

Marshall will take on Miami, Saturday, November 10, at 7:00 in the Henderson Center. Before the game Marshall will honore Kristen Bailey in senior night.

?We always play well against Miami I have a good feeling about tomorrow,? said Legall. ?We?re looking forward to celebrating senior night for our one senior, Kristen and I hope we play well for her. ?

The match against Mimai will be the last home match of the season for the Herd.
