Marshall Volleyball To Host Coaches Clinic

7/26/2001

Marshall University head volleyball coach Steffi Legall and the rest of her Thundering Herd coaching staff will host the Fifth Annual Marshall University Volleyball Coaches Clinic on Saturday, August 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. in the office lobby of the Cam Henderson Center.

?This is always a fun and exciting opportunity for our coaches and program,? said Legall. ?It gives me a chance to meet high-school coaches from throughout the Tri-State. I am really looking forward for this year, our fifth.?

Steffi Legall enters her fifth season at the helm of the Thundering Herd volleyball program. Legall has mentored the Herd through its indoctrination to the Mid-American Conference. Legall ushered in a new era of Marshall volleyball by guiding the squad to a berth in the MAC Tournament in the first season of competition. The Herd has qualified for three consecutive postseason berths since joining the league.

A native of Celle, Germany, Legall came to the United States in 1989 as a collegiate volleyball player at Florida. She was an All-Southeastern Conference performer and an All-South Region selection in 1990 and 1991. Legall was chosen as captain of the Gators from 1990-92.

In addition to her collegiate career, Legall has a wealth of international experience. She was a member of the German Women's Volleyball National Team from 1986-89, and captained the German Junior team from 1985-86. She also played in the 1986 World Championships.

The clinic costs $90 per single coach, but just $65 for a second coach. However, if registered prior to August 1, the price drops to $75 and $50. All checks should be made payable to the Marshall Volleyball Booster Club. All questions are directed to Tim Walenga, Marshall assistant coach, at (304) 696-4657.
