Volleyball Team Loses Heartbreaker to WVU

9/18/2001

Morgantown, W.Va. ? The Marshall University women?s volleyball team was defeated today by in-state rival, West Virginia. The Mountaineers defeated the Herd in three games, 30-26, 30-26, 30-26. The Herd now falls to 2-5 on the season and the Mountaineers will move to 3-5.

The Herd was led by Grace Jones (junior from Lakeland, FL) who ended the match with 11 kills and Jodi Fick (junior from Fremont, OH) with 9 kills. Andrea Kastein (sophomore from Pittsburgh, PA) led the team in assists with 30.

?We committed too many unforced errors,? head coach Steffi Legall said. ?When you are losing a match 26, 26, 26 it is those unforced errors that make a difference in the end result. I hope we can bounce back for our match Friday against Buffalo and get ready to start our conference season. We hope to eliminate these unforced errors in practice these next couple of days.?

The Herd will make its home debut this weekend as it faces conference foes Buffalo on Friday night and Kent State on Saturday. Both matches will start at 7 p.m.
