Volleyball Team Falls in Five Games to Morehead State

Morehead, KY ? The Marshall University volleyabll team dropped a hard fought battle to Morehead State in five games in college volleyball action Tuesday night in Morehead, KY on Tuesday night. The Eagles defeated the Thundering Herd, 30-25, 30-25, 28-30, 24-30, 18-16.

Marshall managed to fight back after starting off the match 0-2 and capture the third and fourth games to send the match into the fifith game. In the fifth match the Herd was down 12-8 and kept fighting for the win, but couldn?t pull the victory out. The Eagles claimed the match 18-16.

?I am very proud of our players for fighting back after being down 0-2 to tie it up at 2-2,? head coach Steffi Legall said. ?To lose the fifth match 18-16 is a heartbreaker, but we need to continue to build on this and learn how to finish the game and make it a win.?

A number of the Marshall players led the Herd tonight. Isabell Anderer (sophomore /Sinshiem, Germany) led the Herd with 23 kills. Jodi Fick (junior/Fremont, OH) ended the evening with 22. Grace Jones (junior/Lakeland, Fl) ended the evening with 17 kills and posted an impressive .536 attack percentage.

?We had outstanding play from Grace tonight,? Legall said. ?She did a tremendous job helping the team battle back when we where behind.?

Marshall returns to action, at home, this Friday and Sunday for Parent?s Weekend. The Herd will take on Ohio, Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 and Ball State, Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2:00 in the afternoon.

?We have a great challenge ahead of us, but we look forward to our conference matches this weekend against Ohio and Ball State,? Legall said.

The Herd falls to 3-7 overall and remains 1-1 in MAC play.
