Leftwich Earns Second MAC East Honor

Marshall University quarterback Byron Leftwich was recognized on Monday as the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Central Michigan.

It is the second time in three weeks for Leftwich to have earned the honor.

Against the Chippewas Leftwich threw for 374 yards, completing 29-of-42 attempts (69.0%) in a
23-18 win. Leftwich tossed scoring passes of
58 and eight yards and had three receivers gain 100 or more yards.

He became the 20th player in Division IA history to reach 10,000 passing yards and now has 10,323 career yards.

Leftwich currently ranks first in the nation in total offense per game (386.0), first in passing yards per game (384.0), second in passing efficiency (159.96) and fourth in touchdown passes (19).
