2/14/2002
AUBURN, Ala.?Marshall University will open a three game series against Auburn University on Friday, February 15, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in Auburn, Ala. The three game series concludes with a game on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and one on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
?Auburn will likely be the toughest opponent we face all year,? head coach Dave Piepenbrink said. ?We will need to do a better job of pitching strikes and getting quality at-bats if we want to have a chance to win.?
Marshall opened the season 0-2, dropping two straight at Winthrop. Auburn, 3-1, opened the season by sweeping a three-game series against Virginia Commonwealth University but dropped a decision to Samford University earlier this week.
Marshall will open the series with Grant Harper (0-1) on the mound. Rick Suter (0-1) and Chris Fritz (0-0) will finish out the series for the Thundering Herd. Levale Speigner (1-0), Cory Dueitt (1-0) and Colby Paxton (1-0) will start for the Tigers.
Auburn leads the all-time series 4-0.
