Herd Baseball Has Five Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Collins, Golden, Havrilla, Hinson, Krebs honored by College Sports Communicators

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Baseball student-athletes Kenyon Collins, Jackson Golden, AJ Havrilla, Cooper Hinson and Charlie Krebs were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, as announced by the CSC.
 
To be eligible, each student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher, be at least a sophomore and have played in 90 percent of the team's games or started in 66 percent of the contests with pitchers needing to have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. 
 
Collins, a native of Ona, West Virginia, appeared in 15 contests with 14 starts on the bump, hurling 72.0 innings, striking out 72 batters and earning a pair of wins. Collins registered at least five punchouts in nine of his outings, including 14 in a win over Butler on March 1.
 
Golden, a native of Apopka, Florida, made 47 appearances with 46 starts behind the plate. The junior sported a .259 batting average with 42 hits, including eight doubles, a pair of homers and a triple, with 21 RBI. Golden collected 11 multi-hit contests with a season-high four at App State on April 2 with six multi-RBI contests, including a season-high four against ULM on May 9.
 
Havrilla, a native of Canfield, Ohio, started all 55 of Marshall's games at first base this season. The junior produced a .266 batting average with 49 hits, including seven doubles and six homers, to go with 38 RBI and 37 runs scored. Havrilla also drew 50 walks, the second most in program history, to lead the Sun Belt Conference. Of Havrilla's 14 multi-hit games, he registered a season-high four at James Madison on May 3 with seven multi-RBI contests, including four at Georgia Southern on March 22 and against Old Dominion on April 10.
 
Hinson, a native of Valrico, Florida, appeared and started 52 contests for the Herd primarily in the outfield. The sophomore registered a .295 batting average with 59 hits in 200 at bats, including 17 doubles, two home runs and a triple. Hinson also recorded 37 RBI and 19 runs. Hinson collected 14 multi-hit games with three in five contests to go along with 10 multi-RBI games, including a season-high four at Kennesaw State on February 14.
 
Krebs, a native of Purcellville, Virginia, made 26 appearances, all in relief, striking out 38 batters in 40.0 innings while registering three saves and a pair of wins. Both of the junior's wins came in SBC play at Old Dominion on April 12 and against ULM on May 8. Krebs three saves came against Butler on March 1, St. Bonaventure on March 6 and Georgia State on March 13.
