Men's Basketball Drops 87-62 Decision at Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo used a 22-0 run and 63% shooting from the floor to establish a 49-21 halftime lead en route to an 87-62 win over Marshall in Mid-American Conference men's basketball action Saturday.
Buffalo (12-15, 7-9 in the MAC) overwhelmed Marshall (12-14, 6-10 in the MAC) with solid play on both ends of the court. The Bulls limited the Thundering Herd to a mere 21 points on 7 of 25 shooting in the first half, while connecting on 17 of their own 27 shots to build an impressive 28 point lead at the break.
Buffalo placed five players in double-figures scoring led by Darcel Williams and Turner Battle who both netted 17 points. Louis Campbell, Clement Smith and Daniel Gilbert added 10 points each.
Marshall was led by senior Tamar Slay who scored a game-high 28 points in the losing effort. The Herd's only other double-figure scorer was sophomore Ronald Blackshear who finished with 12 points.
The Bulls forced 14 Marshall turnovers which helped lead to 16 UB fast break points, in contrast MU recored 2 fast break points.
Buffalo held a 12-0 advantage in points off turnovers and out-scored Marshall 38 to 10 in the paint.
Marshall will try to regroup on Wednesday when the Herd will play its final regular season home game - hosting Central Michigan at 7:30 p.m.
