MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. ? Central Michigan?s Shaleene Glombowski tallied a career-high 80 assists, only the 19th player in Mid-American Conference history to reach the 80-assist plateau, to lead the Chippewas past the Marshall volleyball team 3-2 (30-26, 25-30, 28-30, 30-27, 17-15).

Marshall (14-9, 4-3 MAC) won games two and three after dropping the match?s opening stanza. CMU (10-11, 4-4 MAC) squeaked out a fourth game win to force a decisive fifth game, which the Chippewas won 17-15.

Glombowski coupled her career-night with 13 digs, five blocks and four kills. Two CMU players, Melissa Reynolds and Meghan Moore, posted 20-plus kill efforts with 22 and 21 kills, respectively.

The Thundering Herd was lead by another 60-plus assist performance from sophomore setter Katie Stein (Sussex, Wis.), her third such effort in four matches, with 64 assists which ties her career-high set on Oct. 10 versus Ball State. The senior duo of Tracey King (Miami, Fla.) and Nicole Michal (Louisville, Ky.) each set season-highs with 20 kills each to go along with 11 and 13 digs, respectively. Michal?s attack percentage, .655, was a match-high while King hit at a .381 clip.

For the match, MU collected a higher hitting percentage than Central Michigan, .312 to .303, including a .348 percentage to the Chippewas' .320 in the fifth game, but could not return home with the two-match Michigan sweep.

Marshall freshman Jen Harper (Columbus, Ohio) followed up a 12-kill effort in Friday?s win over Western Michigan with 14 kills in 27 attempts (.312 hitting percentage) in the loss to the Chippewas.

CMU?s Emily Lovejoy, the most recent MAC West Player of the Week, logged 18 kills and 11 digs.

Marshall will return to the court, but continue its five-match road trip, on Wednesday at Akron. The Herd defeated the Zips 3-2 on Sept. 28 at Gullickson Hall Gym, the team?s first league win of the season.
