Kelly Places Sixth in 200m at OSU Invitational

COLUMBUS, OH?Freshman Jermaine Kelly (Brampton, Ontario) finished sixth in the 200 meter spring Saturday at the Ohio State Invitational indoor track meet. Kelly?s time of 22.77 was good enough for sixth place in the event.
Kelly has already sketched his name in the Marshall record books when he and James Barr, James Hickey and Phil Jones broke the school record in the 4x400m relay at the Kentucky Invitational two weeks ago.
Also for the men, Phil Jones placed sixth in the 400m sprint with a time of 51.18. Junior Jason Pyles placed eighth in the Mile run, the second highest placing for the Mid-American Conference. Terry Stahl placed 11th in the shot put and ninth in the weight throw.
For the women, Junior Andrea Perry (Cannleton, WV) scored a 13th place finish in the 600m dash, a 10th place finish in the 60m Hurdles, an 11th place finish in the long jump and a 28th place finish in the shot put. Junior Sarah Corley placed fifth in the 5000m with a time of 20:06.96. Also, sprinters Ashli Creel and Misha Piper finished 7th and 8th respectively in the 60 meter dash.
The women throwers had another strong showing in the weight throw. Shani Brown placed 11th in the shot put and another 11th place finish in the 20 pound weight throw. Senior Erin Compton placed 10th in the weight throw and Mandy Halsey finished 14th.

Marshall?s track team travels to Kent, Ohio Saturday to participate in the Doug Raymond Invitational.
