Marshall To Compete In Prestigious Penn Relays

HUNTINGTON, W. Va.?A select group of members of the Marshall University track and field teams will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete at the Penn Relays this weekend.
Standout Erin Compton will be joined by Terry Stahl, the men?s 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams in Philadelphia. Compton is currently 28th in the nation in the discus and has qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in each of the Thundering Herd?s five meets this season. Compton broke her own school record at Eastern Kentucky last week with a throw of 165-feet-6.5 inches.
The men?s 4x100 meter relay team of John Ferguson, Arthur West, Mark Littlejohn and Wilbur Hargrove are coming off a second place finish at EKU, as is the 4x400 meter relay team of Phil Jones, James Hickey, Jermaine Kelly and James Barr. Stahl also looks to contend in his events. Stahl has qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in the hammer throw.
Compton will compete Thursday, with the championship round slated for Friday. All other events begin on Friday. Other members of the Marshall track and field teams will compete in Louisville this weekend.
