Marshall/Eastern Kentucky Baseball Contest Cancelled

4/29/2003

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Tuesday's Marshall versus Eastern Kentucky baseball game has been cancelled due to inclement field conditions at University Heights, the Thundering Herd's home venue.

Marshall (17-26-1, 8-12 MAC) will not get an opportunity to avenge its 13-10 loss to the Colonels on April 22 at Turkey Hughes Field in Richmond, Ky.

Craig Dziedziejko (Kitchener, Ont.) may be most disappointed with the cancellation after feasting on EKU pitching in the previous matchup, hitting two three-run home runs for a season-high six RBIs.

Newly crowned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Corie O'Bryan (Frederick, Md.) will have to wait until Wednesday's rescheduled game with the University of Rio Grande to continue swinging his hot bat, which drove in nine runs with a .529 batting average in five games last week.

Marshall and Rio Grande will meet for a 2 p.m. start on Wednesday at University Heights.

Chris Koutsavlis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will get the start versus the Redmen, his first start since April 12 when he pitched a complete-game shutout at Buffalo.

Rio Grande (22-19, 7-9 American Mideast) snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday with a 3-2 victory at Tiffin University.
