WMUL-FM Announces Volleyball Broadcasting Schedule
7/14/2003
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ? WMUL-FM is pleased to announce its broadcasting schedule for Marshall University volleyball during the 2003 season. WMUL-FM began live play-by-play coverage of Marshall?s volleyball program two years ago by announcing two (2) matches. Last season, WMUL-FM increased that number to six (6) matches broadcast live over the air on 88.1 MHz, and on the Internet at www.marshall.edu/wmul. This season WMUL-FM will double last years schedule to bring live coverage of at least twelve (12) matches during the 2003 season.
Vince Payne and Jennifer Pierce will be back in the announcing booth for the second season. Payne is a graduate student and serves as the station manager of WMUL-FM as well as a play-by-play announcer. He has won over 80 awards including seven (7) nationally for play-by-play announcing since beginning broadcasting studies at Marshall.
Pierce, a sophomore, is a former collegiate player at Embry-Riddle University and high school standout at Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky. She, along with Vince, has been selected as a national finalist in Best Sports Reporting from Society of Professional Journalists for their reporting on Marshall Volleyball. The winners will be selected September 13, 2003.
?This is an exciting time for WMUL-FM and Marshall Volleyball,? said Payne. ?We are eager to get things going because Coach Jacobs is as committed to excellence as we are. He is dedicated to taking Marshall Volleyball to the next level and we are committed in helping him attain that goal as well.?
?I am very excited to have WMUL coverage join us once again this year,? Marshall head coach Mitch Jacobs said. ?And to have Vince and Jennifer with us on the road for the first time shows a wonderful level of commitment from the University and WMUL.?
