Marshall Players Go Through First Practice

8/6/2003

The 2003 Marshall University football team made it's first appearance on the turf at Marshall Stadium Wednesday afternoon, going through a three hour practice session in shorts and helmets.

Unlike past seasons when freshmen and newcomers got three days of practice prior to the return of the varsity, the entire team took to the field for the start of camp.

"It was good to get out there and get a first look at the team," Herd coach Bob Pruett said. "We threw a lot of stuff at them today and will continue to do a lot of mental work and conditioning before we get into pads this weekend. All-in-all, it was a good first day."

The Herd will continue to work in shorts on Thursday and Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning. Sunday will mark the beginning of practice in full pads.

All Marshall practices are open to the public.
