NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A two hit performance by senior Corie O'Bryan (Frederick, MD) was not enough for the Herd as the Belmont Bruins won game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, 3-1.
O'Bryan tallied two of the Herd's four hits. Brad Helm (Downington, PA) and Joe Glevenyak (West Palm Beach, FL) had the Herd's other two hits.
Marshall had opportunities to score, leaving men on second and third in the first inning and leaving the bases loaded in the sixth.
The lone run of the game for the Herd came in the sixth inning when Belmont starting pitcher Justin Jordan walked Mike Koitsopoulos (Markham, Ont.) and Brad Helm with one out. A hit by Corie O'Bryan two batters later brought in Koitsopoulos.
Marshall starter Scott Henning (Wilmington, DE) pitched five innings giving up three runs. Freshman Adam Dobies (Pittsburgh, PA) made his collegiate debut pitching a scoreless sixth inning.
