Track Travels to EMU for MAC Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Marshall University track team is preparing for the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track Championships which begin on Friday in Ypsilanti, Mich., on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.

Leading the Herd are seniors Varinka Barbini (Flanders, N.J.) and Andrea Perry (Cannelton, W.Va.). Barbini set a new school record this season in the mile (5:08.53) at the Scarlet and Gray Invitational. Perry also set a new school record this season in the Pentathlon with a score of 3604 at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Perry's score is the third highest in the MAC going into the weekend.

In field events, senior Shani Brown (Chicago, Ill.) is currently in second place in the weight throw with a distance of 56-92.25, and is expected to make a strong showing this weekend.

The meet is set to begin Friday morning and continue through Saturday evening.
