LYNCHBURG, Va. ? The Marshall baseball team will head on their fourth road trip of the season, starting with a three-game series at Liberty and heading to Greenville, NC for a game against the East Carolina Pirates on Tuesday.
The Herd (7-7) looks to continue its six-game win streak at Liberty, who enters the weekend with a record of 5-7. Liberty is coming off of two wins earlier this week. They defeated Wake Forest, 13-8, on Tuesday and followed that up with a 13-4 win over North Carolina A&T on Wednesday.
In their last meeting, Liberty defeated Marshall by a score of 6-5 during the 2000 season. Marshall will play three games at Liberty from Saturday to Monday.
After finishing up at Liberty, the Herd will head to the 23rd ranked team in the country, the East Carolina Pirates, for a game on Tuesday afternoon. The Pirates come into the weekend with a 13-3 record. Their three losses came at the hand of #6 ranked Arizona State. They host Charleston Southern for a three-game series before playing MU on Tuesday. Marshall has not faced ECU since 1977, when the Pirates beat the Herd by a 2-1 margin.
