Baseball To Face Ohio In Weekend Showdown
4/15/2004
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - After winning its first Mid-American Conference game of the season last weekend at Kent State, the Herd baseball team will host the Ohio Bobcats in a three-game set this weekend at University Heights.
Marshall (13-20, 1-7 MAC) lost two of three to the Golden Flashes last weekend. Their contest at Eastern Kentucky scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled.
Last season, the Herd took one of four games from the Bobcats. After falling in the first two games of the series, 11-1 and 16-2, the Herd took the third game by a 4-3 score before losing the finale, 5-3.
Ohio enters the weekend with an 11-16 record. They are 5-8 in conference play after taking two of three games from Eastern Michigan last weekend. The Bobcats have one of the hottest offenses in the league. Their .308 batting average in conference games is second in the league.
Adam Frederick (Franklin, PA) has the top average for the Herd, batting .338. Aaron Jamieson (Lindsay, Ont.) is riding a team-high five-game hitting streak into the weekend. He hit .421 last week in his first full week as a starter.
Friday's game can be heard on WMUL or online at www.marshall.edu/wmul. Saturday's game can be heard on 930 AM WRVC.
Game one starts at 3 p.m. on Friday at University Heights. The games on Saturday and Sunday both start at 1 p.m. Admission to all home games is free.
