Baseball Hosting Central Michigan In MAC Showdown

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - After their final non-conference weekend of the season against New York Tech, the Marshall baseball team begins a four week Mid-American Conference slate, starting Friday with Central Michigan.
Marshall (19-22, 3-8 MAC) is 4-1 over the last week, taking three from NYIT before splitting a doubleheader at Morehead State. They took two out of three from Ohio two weeks ago in the last conference series. Marshall is fifth in the eastern division, ahead of Buffalo, who is 3-7 in conference play. Miami (Ohio) leads the east with a 7-3 MAC record.
The Chippewas (21-20, 7-5 MAC) won games this week at Chicago State and Detroit. They are 2-4 in their last two MAC series, losing two of three against Ball State and Northern Illinois. They are tied with Northern Illinois for third in the west. Eastern Michigan leads the west with an 8-4 conference record.
Central Michigan leads the series by a 5-1 count. In the last meeting, CMU defeated Marshall by a 12-9 score.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday at University Heights. WMUL will be broadcasting and can be heard by logging on to www.marshall.edu/wmul. The games on Saturday and Sunday start at 1 p.m. Saturday's game can be heard on 930 WRVC. Woody Woodrum and Robert Harper will have the action live from University Heights.
