HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Xavier Musketeers lead the 35th Annual Marshall Invitational after the first round of play with a team score of three-under par, 281. The host Thundering Herd currently stand in second place with an even-par round of 284.
Xavier posted individual scoring rounds of 69, 69, 71, and 72 to grab the first-round lead.
Marshall is in second place as a team, and senior Burke Spensky (Huntington, W.Va.) is tied for the individual lead with Northern Illinois' Nicholas Schenk with a first-round 68. Freshman Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) scored a 69, with Ben Minyard (Avondale, Ariz.) and Brad Tweel (Huntington, W.Va.) finishing out the Marshall team score with a 73 and 74, respectively.
