Marshall Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At Mid-Pines Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Marshall men's golf team ended the final round of the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon in fifth place with a team total of 879. Wichita State won the tournament with a team total of 853.
"I think for our first tournament, I thought we had a good outing," said head coach Joe Feaganes. "I think we could have knocked a few strokes off, but all in all, it was a good outing."
Senior Brad Tweel (Huntington, W.Va.) and freshman Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.) led the way for Marshall in the two-day tournament with a pair of 219's, which tied them for 18th. Sophomore Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.) had a strong outing for Marshall with a 220 (T-24th), and fellow sophomore Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) posted a 221 (T-30th). Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.) ended the tournament with a 238 (T-84th).
Nathan Stamey from UNC Greensboro won the individual portion of the tournament with a five-under par, 211.
The Herd returns to tournament play on September 27th and 28th, at the Adams Cup in Newport, R.I., in an event sponsored by the University of Rhode Island.
