Herd Ties Panthers, 3-3

PITTSBURGH - The Marshall University men's soccer team tied the Pittsburgh Panther, 3-3, Wednesday night at Founders Field.

The Herd (4-4-1) scored two goals in the final minutes of the game, but could not must up the offense to score in the two overtime periods.

Marshall started the scoring in the seventh minute when Jared Dombrowski (Pickerington, OH) scored on a pass from Michael McDonald (Luton, England). The Panthers (2-2-3) tied the game five minutes later when Billy Brush scored a goal.

Keeyan Young scored later in the half to give Pitt the 2-1 lead at halftime. Early in the second half, the Panthers extended their lead to 3-1 when Brush notched his second goal of the game.

In the 87th minute, Jeremy Ashe (Cinnaminson, NJ) scored to get the Herd to within one, and in the final minute, Mike Barbera (Huntington, WV) scored to tie the game up. Michael McDonald recorded his second assist of the game on that goal.

Both teams had their chances to win the game in overtime, but had to settle with a 3-3 tie.

The Herd returns home for the home conference opener against Northern Illinois. The game is slated to start at 1 p.m..
