HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall men's soccer goalkeeper Greg Terhune (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Terhune is Marshall's first men's soccer player of the week honoree as a member of Conference USA.

Terhune posted his first shutout of the season Sunday in a 1-0 win at South Carolina. Terhune recorded eight saves, including six in the first half, en route to his second career shutout. Terhune last earned a shutout Oct. 17, 2004, against Longwood in Huntington.

The win completed a weekend sweep for the Thundering Herd, as it also nabbed a 3-2 double-overtime victory Friday at East Carolina. In that match, Terhune posted five saves. For the weekend, Terhune had a 0.93 goals against average.

UAB's Jason McLaughlin earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The two victories catapulted the Herd into a second-place tie in Conference USA with South Carolina. Marshall plays host to UAB at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Sam Hood Field and caps the weekend with a noon Sunday match against Memphis.
