IRVING, Texas - The Conference USA office in Irving, Texas announced Monday that Thundering Herd sophomore volleyball player Kelly-Anne Billingy was once again named the Conference USA volleyball Player of the Week.
It is the third time Billingy has received the honor this season. The three Player of the Week accolades are the most for any one player this season. She also took the award for the Herd on September 26 and October 17.
The Trincity, Trinidad native totaled 41 kills and a .507 hitting percentage in a pair of wins this weekend for the Herd over Tulsa and SMU. The sophomore posted a double-double with 20 kills and 11 digs on Friday over the Golden Hurricane and added another with 21 kills and 11 digs on Sunday against a defensive-minded SMU squad. Against the Mustangs, Billingy had a breakout defensive performance at the net with three block solos and four block assists. For the week, Billingy averaged 6.83 kills, 3.67 digs, 1.5 blocks and 8.25 points per game.
For the season, Billingy leads the Herd and Conference USA with 390 kills (5.65/game) and a .348 hitting percentage. Billingy also has eight double-doubles on the year.
In league play, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year pick has not disappointed with her 5.90 kills per game and .386 hitting percentage to help guide the Herd to first place with its 11-1 C-USA record. Marshall is 19-5 on the season.
Billingy and the Herd will return to action on Friday as the Herd travels to Hattiesburg to take on Southern Miss at 7 p.m. (ET). Marshall will then head to Orlando, Fla. to take on UCF at 1 p.m. Sunday.
