COLUMBUS - The Conference USA Champion Marshall University volleyball team will face 19th-ranked Ohio State Friday in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament. The OSU-Marshall match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at St. John Arena in Columbus.

Ohio State is the No. 13 seed in the tournament and one of 16 host institutions for the first two rounds. Ohio and Alabama are the other two schools in Marshall's bracket with the Buckeyes and those two schools will play at 5 p.m. on Friday. The winner of each contest will square off on Saturday at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the regional in Palo Alto, Calif.

Marshall is currently 26-5 overall and earned an automatic bid into the big dance by claiming the Conference USA tournament title in Houston two weeks ago with three thrilling 3-2 wins. Marshall is currently riding a 12-match winning streak, its longest in school history, and is making only its second NCAA Tournament appearance. The 1995 Thundering Herd won the Southern Conference Championship and lost 3-0 to Georgia in the first round.

Ohio State enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 21-8 overall and is ranked No. 19 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. Marshall would be No. 30 based on its number of votes if the rankings extended beyond 25. The Buckeyes are one of six schools from the Big Ten to make it into the NCAA Tournament. Marshall is the only team from Conference USA to make the field of 64.

Ohio State leads the all-time series with Marshall 3-1 with the last meeting coming in 1977.

Tickets can be purchased through the Ohio State Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BUCKS or online at hangonsloopy.com. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and $4 for children. One ticket is good for both matches Friday.
