Track on the Road for Virginia Tech Challenge

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University track team heads to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Challenge. The meet will be held in Rector Fieldhouse and is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Fri. and will run throughout the day on Sat.

In the Thundering Herd's last outing freshman Teniqua Sutton set a new Marshall record when she finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 39-01.00 feet (11.91m). Sutton broke the previous record by more than a foot. Also helping to lead the Herd was senior Zedmalia Wolfe who added a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.62).

In addition to the Herd, 27 other teams will be competing in Blacksburg over the weekend. Seven of the schools are nationally ranked in this week's Women's Trackwire 25 poll. Miami sets in fourth place, South Carolina ranks seventh, North Carolina is tied for 12th, Duke holds the 16th spot and Georgia rounds out the ranked teams in the 21st position.
