CLEVELAND - Junior Adam Frederick (Franklin, PA) was named Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week by the league office on Monday.

For Frederick, it is the first time he has received the honor. It also marks the second straight week Marshall has received an award. Last week, junior Chris Koutsavlis (Pittsburgh, PA) received Pitcher of the Week honors for his complete game performance against St. Bonaventure.

In four games last week, Frederick batted .429 (8-19), helping Marshall to a 3-1 record. He also drove in nine runs.

Frederick started the week off going 2-5 with an RBI in the Herd's 8-3 win at Duke on Tuesday. He also scored two runs in the game.

He began Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Eastern Michigan with a 1-4 performance. His best effort of the week came in the second game where he went 3-5, knocking in six runs. He hit a grand slam for his first home run of the year. In the final game against EMU, he registered two hits, two RBI's and two runs scored.

Frederick and the rest of the team will look to keep its recent success going, traveling to Eastern Kentucky for a 3 p.m. game on Wednesday. The Herd, 5-2 in its last seven games, will then head to Oxford, Ohio for a three game set against division rival Miami starting on Friday at 3 p.m..
