Baseball To Host EKU On Wednesday

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Thundering Herd and the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky will square off for the second time this season on Wednesday afternoon at University Heights.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.. The Herd enters the mid-week contest with a record of 11-20 and 6-6 in the Mid-American Conference. Marshall fell in two of three games at Ohio University over the weekend and has fell in four of its last five games overall.
Adam Frederick (Franklin, PA) is coming off of a solid weekend that saw him put in a career outing the MU's 9-6 win over Ohio U. on Saturday night. Frederick notched a career high five hits, going 5-6 in the contest. It marked the first five-hit game of the season for the Herd and the first since Joe Glevenyak (West Palm Beach, FL) recorded five hits last season against Morehead State.
Eastern Kentucky has a record of 10-19 and is 4-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Colonels have fallen in eight of nine games, most recently losing two of three in a series to Jacksonville State over the weekend.
In their previous meeting this season, EKU scored eight runs in the first two innings and held on for an 11-10 win. In that game, Herd newcomers Aaron Levinson (Seattle, WA and Tommy Johnson (Gaithersburg, MD) were the story. Levinson went 3-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored. He also hit his first career home run in the game. Johnson was 4-4 with two runs and two RBI's.
The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at University Heights. From there, MU will travel to Blacksburg, VA to take on Virginia Tech in a weekend series.
